Planter warts

Plantar warts are skin lesions affecting the soles of the feet and toes, which may occur singly or in clusters.

They appear like cauliflower having the same colour as the skin with dark dots (petechiae) at the centre.

Human papilloma virus -types 1, 2, 4, 60, 63 and a few other types are the cause of plantar warts.

These lesions can really make walking painful , hence can not be ignored..Many of these warts are seen on the pressure points of the feet, it makes walking hurt.

Cuts and abrasion on the skin serve as entry points when there is contact with infected surfaces.

These viruses can be picked from changing room, swimming pool, shower floors, benches, sharing towels , shoes and socks.

Plantar wart commonly affect children and adolescents, but adults can also be infected.

Most people may not seek medical treatment, especially when it resolves on its own as occurs in some people. Of course people who have pain on walking will need dermatologist's attention.

Treatment ranges from using topical creams to procedures such as freezing or burning the wart .
